From manual Excel compilation to a live commercial intelligence dashboard that updates itself every hour — automatically.
The commercial team at Asgard Modular Manufacturing (AMM), an Irish modular manufacturing company, were running their business from Excel. Revenue tracking, contract valuations, material costs, and project progress — all of it spread across multiple spreadsheets that had to be manually pulled together each week into a management report.
Every week, someone on the commercial team spent the first half of a day compiling data from different sources and formatting it into a report that was already out of date by the time it arrived in inboxes. Six hours a week — around 300 hours a year — on a task that added no value beyond what the underlying data already contained.
The bigger problem wasn't the time lost. It was the decisions being made on stale data. By the time a cost overrun appeared in the weekly report, it had often been running for days — past the point where intervention could recover it.
SlamAI designed and built a commercial intelligence dashboard that pulls directly from the company's existing Excel files — with no change to their current workflow required.
The key insight was that the team couldn't — and didn't want to — abandon Excel. They'd used it for years and their processes were built around it. So instead of replacing Excel, SlamAI built a layer on top: an automated sync that reads the Excel files every hour and pushes the data into a live PostgreSQL database, which then powers a real-time dashboard accessible on any screen.
The dashboard displays:
